National Federation of Railway Pensioners, Palakkad.

NFRP established in 1982 as an apex body, for protecting the rights of railway pensioners.

Formed with Headquarters at Palghat, with affiliating units functioning in erstwhile Olavakkode Division, - now Palghat Division.
-
Subsequently spread over Southern Railway and later spread over the Indian Railways.

We have 115 affiliated units from all over India
-
We do not enroll individual members directly.
-
Our membership is through our affiliated units
-
Our National President is Sri V.K. Sthanunathan,Rtd Addl. Member (Staff), Railway Board,at Chennai.

We have 17 Office Bearers and Executive members at Headquarters,
-
And 14 Office Bearers from all parts of the country.

Affiliation fees of Rs.500/- p.a.
OBJECTIVES :-
-
NFRP was formed to fight for changing the pattern of pension structures of pensioners,
-
To uphold the dignity and respect of pensioners from all levels,
-
Create an awareness among the pensioners regarding their rightful entitlements,
-
To function as responsible, experienced senior citizens for the prosperity of the society,
-
To remind the pensioners that they are still a productive and creative section of the society in spite of their advancing years.

To encourage them in engaging in social services.

To help the Pensioners build up healthy body and healthy mind by giving health tips through our Digest.
-
To remind pensioners about their social obligation to the development of the nation by timely reminders for paying Income Tax.
ACTIVITIES:
-
We receive the grievances of Railway Pensioners/Family pensioners directly as well as through affiliated units,
-
take up the issues with appropriate bodies to get relief to the aggrieved individuals,
-
In this process we deal with the Railway divisional offices, General Managers’ offices, Ministry of Railways, Health, Finance, Expenditure, Director of Pension and Pensioners welfare etc;
-
Collect important notifications, Office memoranda, circulars etc., pertaining to the pensioners and pass the information on to the pensioners through our monthly digest.

Conduct Executive Committee meetings on first Wednesday and third Wednesday every month.

Assist pensioners in communicating with pension disbursing authorities, by drafting applications, filling forms etc.,

Participate in meetings conducted by affiliated units and various pension associations,
-
Compile matters for our monthly digest, design the lay out, get the same printed, packed and dispatched on 28th of every Month,

Educate our pensioners to preserve following documents for the sake of family:-

Birth & Marriage certificates, if available, Pension Payment order,
-
Joint Bank account with spouse for drawl of pension, with details of Bank account, Family identity card, Medical identity card, Aadhaar card,
-
PAN card , Acknowledgement for income tax return, Passport ,Driving license, Property documents including the title deed, ownership certificate and tax paid receipts.

Publish a monthly Magazine, “ Railway Pensioners National Digest ” , compiling all latest information related to Service matters, Pension, Government orders, Court cases, Health related matters, General information, Etc.,

Subscription for our monthly magazine is Rs.200/- p.a
